A Walk In Forest Of Imagination
Realism is just to be aware of the possibility of a plan or thing to happen. It is the extent to which a person can expect something according to the plan.
While Idealism is related to hope, it is a motivating force necessary to overcome hard days. Idealism creates a spirit that helps to make efforts for getting or achieving a specific task.
Realism is the possibility of things happening according to the plan while keeping the ground reality in mind. Idealism is the firm conviction to put up reasonable efforts for something, hoping that someone’s idea or desire can be implemented or adjusted somewhere between the ground reality and the supposed outcome.
Imagination is the circle of thoughts a person loves to remain in. This thoughtful circle can be the comfort zone where a person finds peace and tranquillity.
Peace and Calmness are particular doses for the mind’s stability. Mind stability is necessary if a person wants to live a life of true meaning rather than just spending hours, days, weeks, months, and years till death.
A question that mainly arises is why imagination is a person’s only source of peace.
Just turn the tables and shift your intention towards the thinking philosophy of a person. A person creates a boundary around himself and wants to allow only those people to cross the border whom he loves. Possibilities exist that things happen according to a person’s will. Similarly, there are possibilities that things never happen according to a person’s desire or preferences.
The fact is that a person only wants to live with the people or things of his choice or with those whom he loves. A person never wants to live in imagination if the reality is according to his wish. A person always chooses or prefers fantasy only when the truth is against his plans, beloved ones, and preferences.
For example, A man wants to marry a woman, but she does not want to be his wife. This reality will disturb him because she can’t be her wife. To avoid this disturbance, that man will develop a fantasy world around him, where everything is according to his plans, and that woman is his wife. This will give pleasure, peace, and Calmness. Mental stability is so vital that a person can spend his whole life sitting on the beach if he finds peace there. So, when this man feels comfortable in that specific zone where everything is according to his arrangement or choice, he will never broaden his circle to accept reality because reality is painful and hits his mental stability. Now comes the other side of the story. Suppose a woman whom he wants to marry becomes his wife. The reality is beautiful here, so the man does not need to suppose or imagine. He has the woman whom he wants to be his wife.
So, the purpose of this example is to highlight that choosing a path of imagination is unnecessary. A person wants to choose a way that follows mental stability, happiness, and direction. He travels with those he wants to travel. This path can be imaginative if the ground reality is not following a person’s desires. On the other hand, this path can be realistic if the present reality is according to a person’s demand.
Imagination-A Basic Requirement Of Love
Persons who live in fantasy think that if life is not according to their thoughts, they should develop a forest of ideas and continue to roam under the shades of thoughts. If a person loves something or someone (not every love needs to be between a man and woman), returning immediately to the knees without damaging mental stability after a setback can be considered a disrespectful act for love. We can call this fake or temporary love(mostly affection, as discussed in the previous article).
For a human to get sad about losing loved ones or things is necessary; otherwise, this will give a smell that can’t be of love. This might be true, but taking sadness too seriously also causes severe damage to the relations linked with that person.
What Damages Do Imaginations Cause?
Imagination firstly makes a person extraordinarily silent and unaware of his surroundings. He loses interest in his responsibilities and near and dear ones. This loss of interest sets up his mind in a way that he highly feels a feeling of self-pity, and he just sees himself as a victim of time and life. This also leads to a situation when a person’s happiness lies in being sad. The more sad he is, the more peaceful or happy he is. The repetitive thoughts of desired life give him temporary relief, but when this bubble of imagination blows out, the pain starts, and this pain becomes enjoyable for him.
Our Demands From Fantasizer And Associated Consequences
We mostly think those suffering from an imaginative trauma must return to life and be normal like others. This is easy for us to say but difficult to do practically. Our continuous demand forces them to develop an artificial attitude. You can call this a Travesty. Everything has its limits, and there comes a day when that person becomes fed up with acting, which will give rise to extreme behavioral changes, like powerful and repetitive flashbacks, regret, and open exposure to hits that a person is covering.
Extreme Realistic Vs. Extreme Idealistic Approach
What creates a problem for most of us is that we are either extraordinarily realistic or highly idealistic.
For example, A very hardworking and talented person applies for a job. He goes with a practical approach that the company’s standards are very high, and I can’t be on them. He is thinking about all these things without giving them a try. This is a highly realistic approach if something is complex and someone leaves it without a trial because many others could not be on the required standards, so he thinks he also can’t be.
If a 45-year-old man applies for a job with selection criteria that demands a person aged between 20-25 years, but the applying person is so motivated that he firmly believes that he can be the one and work very hard for that. That is a highly idealistic approach that has nothing to do with reality.
Both of these approaches are wrong and need to be corrected, and the correction lies in creating a balance. Let’s talk about the possibilities of creating a balance between Idealism and Realism.
Balance Between Idealism And Realism
Idealism and realism are two poles of magnets that always repel. Balance is impossible because the idealistic and realistic approaches are linked to the person’s desires. It’s very tough for human beings to suppose something against their will. This unacceptability of the possibilities that Reality and Idealism bring leads to the impossibility of creating a balance.
How can we force a person to get out of his fantasy world to the world of reality and to admit the chances of possibilities?
This is a very emerging and vital question that has affected chiefly our society and needs to be addressed by proper counseling. The person should be taught how, when, and where to implement an idealistic approach and when, where, and how to implement a realistic strategy.
Although it is not that easy, the struggle of man to create a balance between idealistic and realistic thoughts makes a man- a human.
