Turkiye After Treaty Of Lausanne
Time is one of the essential things that exist in this universe. It is believed that waiting is very hard, and only the one with nerves can pass this test. Turkiye has been suffering from this test for the last 100 years; finally, the results are near.
Flashback to the Ottoman Empire
The Ottoman Empire was started at the last of the 13th century by a leader name Osman. This further expanded and covered the areas from the Balkan Mountains ( South Eastern Europe) to the Western Part of Asia.
The Byzantine Empire was the greatest rival of the Ottoman Empire, and after the successful capture of the Byzantine capital by the Ottoman Emperor, the fall of Constantinople became a part of history.
During the fall of the Byzantine Empire, a famous name Sultan Muhammad Fateh also known as Mehmed the Conqueror, appeared and made his name written in history books.
The Era of Suleman The Magnificient
During the rule of Suleman The Magnificient, the Ottoman Empire crossed all boundaries and expanded up to the Middle East and North Africa. During his reign, Ottoman Empire controlled major sea routes from the Mediterian Sea to the Red Sea and up to Arabian Gulf.
It is considered that the Ottomans progressed very speedily during the rule of Suleman The Magnificient. After his death, the fall of the Ottoman Empire started.
The military strength of The Ottomans after the death of Suleman The Magnificient became weaker than their rivals from the Danubian Monarchy and Russian Empire. This further led to various defeats for the Ottomans, and finally, they were bound to announce reforms known as Tanzimat in 1876.
The Start of Modern Turkiye
The conversion of the Ottoman Empire into a Constitutional Monarchy was through the establishment of the Second Constitutional Era, which led to Competitive Multi-Party Elections, which The Committee of Union and Progress did. The Committee of Union and Progress came into power after the Balkens War in which Serbia, Greece, Montenegro, and Bulgaria attacked Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire was engaged in genocides against Armenians, Assyrians, and Greeks. The Ottomans lost the Southern Territories, which resulted in the partition of the Empire. There was a military campaign known as the Turkish War of Independence, which resulted in the emergence of The Republic of Turkiye under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. 1922 the Ottoman Empire ended after Turkiye signed The Treaty of Lausanne on 23rd July 1923. This was the start of modern Turkiye.
The Treaty of Laussane
The Treaty Of Lausanne came with many restrictions on Turkiye.
- After this treaty, The Caliphate was revoked, The Caliph was sent into exile, and the new government took over all his property.
- Turkiye was declared a Secular State. Secularism continued in Turkiye for years after the declaration of Turkiye as a secular state. The Scarf was lifted, so a Western look was given to Turkiye, commonly named Modern Turkiye.
- There were many restrictions on Turkiye, according to which Turkiye would not be able to extract oil and mining of natural resources.
- The Bosporus Strait and Dardanelles are a link between the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea, so it was important for Turkiye’s opponent economically and strategically. Bosporus Strait is the one that creates a boundary between Asia and Europe by dividing Turkiye through Anatolia and Thrace. Dardanelles is another narrow strait that separates Asian Turkiye from European Turkiye. The command of both these states was given to the International Straits Commission, which declared that Turkiye would not charge any fee for the movement of ships across these straits. Bosporus and Dardanelles were reported as international straits, a significant setback to the Turkish Economy.
Turkiye Present Visuals
The recent developments in Turkiye are prominent as Turkiye is playing a vital role against Islamophobia and raising its voice on every international forum that Islam is a peaceful religion. The Hagia Sophia conversion into Masjid in 2020 depicts that Turkiye will not compromise on Islamic values at any cost. It is seen that Turkiye has become the center of unity for the Muslim world, and Tayyab Erdogan is trying his best to bring all the Muslim countries at one point agenda.
Tayyab Erdogan’s Policy For The Coming Years
The policy of Tayyab Erdogan’s remained very clear from the start when he took the office of President of Turkiye as the 12th President. He seemed to be very determined to revive the Ottoman Empire. Tayyab Erdogan’s various acts give the world a loud and clear message that Turkiye will play a vital role in the Muslim World. He established Turkiye’s Economy and helped the middle class of their country to expand, and many people were taken out of poverty. The public of Turkiye showed their trust in Erdogan in a way that he is still the President of Turkiye.
There was a try by the military to overtake Tayyab Erdogan’s government, but the public of Turkiye severely defeated this.
Turkiye-A Threat For The Super Powers
With the rise of the Turkish economic situation, Turkiye will also be sanction-free in 2023. This is a significant threat for the Super Powers as these uplifting sanctions will take Turkiye towards a level that can surprise the superpowers. Moreover, the Treaty of Lausanne will end, and Turkiye will extract oil and other minerals. Turkiye will export this oil, which will boost its Economy. The oil issue in Muslim developing countries will also be resolved as they will not have to look towards Europe for oil. This will significantly impact the European Economy and reduce their threats to Muslim countries in case of any action against their will. The uplift of Turkiye means the rise of the Muslim world.
Future Policy of Separated States
The states that were separated after the fall of the Ottoman Empire will also have to decide their future policy. The Isolated States are generally expected to continue their independent status, and the annexation chances are low. In short, Turkiye will have more economic benefits after the end of this treaty.
How West Is Thinking About 2023
The West is aware of Turkiye’s present situation and the Muslim world’s attitude regarding its policies. The freedom movements in many Muslim countries are signs of worry for the West to think about their effective control and position in the Muslim world.
Let’s see what happens next.
